Anaerobic Filters and the Effect of Support Media on Their Performance, by Sri Ram Kishore Ajjarapu 

ABSTRACT

The anaerobic filter process is emerging as an efficient and economic method for the treatment of wastewater. Inexpensive organic stabilization coupled with efficient pathogen control makes the anaerobic filter process viable and hence broadens its applications. Support media is a vital component of the anaerobic filter. Media characteristics such as porosity, shape and size exert a significant influence on the efficiency of the filter. The influence of these media characteristics on the performance of the filter has been studied.
