Course Objectives: At completion of this course, students
should be able to
Objective 1: Identify the main design attributes of an electricity market system.
Objective 2: Communicate the relationship between the
planning process and state and federal regulatory agencies.
Objective 3: Communicate the effect of recent and likely
future environmental legislation on the planning process.
Objective 4: Identify costs, efficiencies, and
environmental characteristics of various bulk ener
Objective 5: Compute G&T adequacy indices for a bulk
transmission system.
Objective 6: Perform the main steps of a resource and transmission
planning study for an electric utility.
Objective 7: Perform the main steps of a transmission planning study for an
independent system operator.
Objective 8: Use of a production costing software application.
Objective 9: Use one of the national modeling tools for infrastructure analysis of
bulk ener
Objective 10: Use optimization methods to formulate and solve basic electricity
planning problems.
